What is the UCAT ANZ?
The UCAT ANZ is the admissions test used by most undergraduate medicine and dentistry programmes in Australia and New Zealand. It is administered by ACER - check ucat.acer.org for current test dates and registration.
Is the UCAT ANZ the same test as the UK UCAT?
No. They share the same four subtest names - Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning, and Situational Judgement - and trace back to the same test family, but the UCAT ANZ is a separate test administered by ACER for Australian and NZ universities, distinct from the UK UCAT administered by Pearson VUE. Practice material and score scales are not directly interchangeable.
What replaced the UMAT?
The UCAT ANZ replaced the UMAT (Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test) starting in 2019 as the standard entry test for undergraduate medicine and dentistry in Australia and New Zealand.
