UCAT practice questions
What is the UCAT?
The UCAT (University Clinical Aptitude Test) is an aptitude-based admissions test used by the large majority of UK medical and dental schools. It is administered by Pearson VUE, not a subject-knowledge exam - check ucat.ac.uk for current test dates and registration.
Is the BMAT still used?
No. The BMAT (BioMedical Admissions Test) was discontinued after its 2023 sitting. Universities that previously required BMAT - including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, and UCL - moved to the UCAT for 2024 entry onward. Always confirm each university's current requirement directly, since a small number of courses (for example some graduate-entry programmes) ask for GAMSAT instead.
What does the UCAT test?
Four sections: Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning, and a separately-scored Situational Judgement Test. It has no biology, chemistry, or physics content - it tests reasoning speed and judgement, not subject knowledge.
